Our Impact
Research shows that the biggest single predictor of a child's future success is the presence in their life of at least one non-parent adult. Kids who have positive adult relationships are more motivated to learn and do better in school. They have a better sense of themselves and their future. They accept and take responsibility for themselves and others. They are more resilient and less likely to engage in risky behavior.
Organizational Accomplishments
- In the past six years we have grown from three clubs to seventeen. (Seven middle schools, three neighborhood clubs, three high schools and one elementary school and three elementary outreach sites.)
- In the fall of 2007 we opened a third neighborhood club at Southwest Key near East Memorial High School.
- Clubs are open 245 days a year, with more than 1,600 total hours of programming.
- Since 2001, our program offerings have increased 123%.
- We serve more than 10,000 kids every year and nearly 1,500 every day.
- In the past five years the number of kids we serve has increased four fold, while our budget has only doubled.
- Yearly membership dues are $25, only $1 for housing authority members, and nothing at our school based clubs. Scholarships are provided for youth who cannot afford these fees.
